Key Ingredients

Ashwagandha

(Withania somnifera)

Anti-Alzheimer: Ashwagandha is identified with neuroprotective phyto-constituents such as sitoindosides VII–X, withaferin A, withanosides IV, withanols, and withanolides with key pharmacological effects in brain disorders, such as stress, anxiety, Alzheimerʼs, depression, etc. which are caused mainly due to oxidative stress in the brain. The phytoconstituents in Ashwagandha reduce/suppress this oxidative stress and thus act as an anti-Alzheimer.

Effect on the Nervous system: Ashwagandha is reported to have a sedative action on the central nervous system, making it a superior medicine for exhaustion with nervous irritability. Ashwagandha alters the concentration of neurotransmitters that are known to play an important role in brain processes such as memory. The effects on the nervous system are associated with Ashwagandholine (root extracts).

Anti- Inflammatory, Anti- Arthritic activity: Ashwagandha possesses anti-inflammatory activity against the acute condition of carrageenan-induced paw edema and Freundʼs adjuvant-induced arthritis comparable with hydrocortisone. Ashwagandha was found to effectively reduce/suppress the inflammation within 6 hours after administration of a single dose. Ashwagandha powder has been found useful in acute rheumatoid arthritis and reduces the discomfort associated with arthritis. This property has been attributed to the active principle withaferin-A.

Cardioprotective activity: Withania somnifera was found to increase the heart rate, contractility, relaxation, and decrease preload along with improved antioxidant enzymes and inhibition of lipid-peroxidation comparable to vitamin E, a known cardio-protective antioxidant.

Aphrodisiac: Ashwagandha extracts have a direct spermatogenic influence on the seminiferous tubules of immature rats presumably by exerting a testosterone-like effect.
